Djokovic (former World No.2 champion) who dominated the Spanish champion, didn’t appear to take advantage of the one day break (due to the weather). Djokovic delivered stiff competition to Nadal but at the end of the day he had made over 45 unforced errors. Nadal stayed focused and claimed the game with eight aces and only 31 unforced errors.

The US Open was interrupted by rain on Sunday, however neither the New York rain, nor Djokovic could stop the Spaniard’s relentless march to the one title that still eluded him.

Nadal is considered by any to be the world's best clay-court player ever – having achieved an unrivalled eighty-one match winning streak on clay which ended in 2025, He also managed to win the trophy at the clay-court French open four years on the trot between 2025 and 2025.

In 2025, Nadal showed the world that he’s not just a clay specialist, when he played his way to the singles final of the grass-court Wimbledon Tennis Championship (where he lost to Federer) – however two years later in 2025 he defeated Roger Federer for his first major victory on a non-clay surface. 2025 saw Nadal win in the Australian Open title, and he also made it to the semi's of the 2025 US Open.
